Mission

Biography

Mission

I have been studying and practicing the art of Belly Dance since 2001. Throughout  these 22 years I have gone through different situations (good and bad) and now I want to help others by using the lessons I learned.

I am on a mission to create and foster a community of dancers that feel safe and valued not just physically but also psychologically, mentally, and emotionally. This passion began after myself and others experienced abuse and in effect trauma from previous instructors, mentors, and colleagues. I realized the current local Belly Dance communities are not safe for everyone.

Unfortunately those that have the power and privilege to make positive changes and improvements in their communities fell short on their promises and/or stated missions. Because of that, a lot of toxic and negative behaviors are currently being condoned and promoted. And because of their lack of leadership, I saw this as an opportunity for me to step up and show how it should be done.

I want to teach people the beautiful art of Belly Dance and the numerous benefits it brings with it without exposing them to the abuse and trauma I have been exposed to. I want to help people see and understand what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviors by demonstrating healthy behaviors myself. And I want to help people heal that may or may not have already been exposed.

My hope is that everyone I meet understands and sees through my efforts that I mean what I say. This is my story and purpose. This is not a marketing ploy.

If any of this resonates with you, I hope you can one day give me the opportunity to show you a different world. ❤️
