Eunice has been studying and practicing the art of Belly Dance since 2001. Throughout her over 20 years journey, she has experienced various situations (good, bad, and unfortunately the ugly) in the Belly Dance industry. With the lessons she learned, she now wants to use them to prevent others from being exposed to the unhealthy relationships and situations like she did as well as support those that have unfortunately already had similar experiences.
Eunice is on a mission to create and foster a community of dancers that feel safe and valued not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. This passion began after herself and others experienced abuse and trauma (narcissism, racism, and sexism) from instructors, mentors, colleagues, musicians, restaurant owners, etc. realizing many of the current local Belly Dance communities in New England are not safe for everyone. She shares her stories to warn others.
Eunice witnessed how many of those that have the power and responsibility to make positive changes and improvements in their communities have fallen short on their promises and/or stated missions. Because of that, a lot of toxic and negative behaviors continue to be condoned and promoted. And because of the lack of leadership skills she witnessed from the people assigned the roles to be leaders, she saw this as an opportunity for her to step up and show everyone how it should be done.
Eunice wants to teach others the beautiful art of Belly Dance and the numerous benefits it brings as well as demonstrate what is acceptable and unacceptable by modeling it herself. She hopes to be the leader she needed back then.
This is her story and purpose. It is not a marketing ploy like many others have done and continue to do. If any of this resonates with anyone, she hopes you can one day give her the opportunity to show you a different and much better world.
